Sofia Villalobos
Sofia is a PhD candidate at the Department of Clinical Neuro and Developmental Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, funded by Deelkracht. With a background in sociology, her research examines both the broader effects of being DHH and the specific impact of cochlear implants on employment, social benefits, and career trajectories. By combining administrative data from Statistics Netherlands with advanced inferential and quasi-experimental methods, she aims to uncover patterns of workforce participation and identify factors that shape employment outcomes for the DHH people. Within Driven, her goal is to inform policies and interventions that promote fair labor market opportunities and support long-term inclusion for DHH adults.
