Factsheet: Geographical distribution of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons in The Netherlands

Deaf/hard-of-hearing

This factsheet identifies DHH people in the Netherlands who claimed reimbursements for hearing-related care between 2013 and 2021, using two types of datasets: claims from Sensory Disability Care (SDC) and claims from Medical Specialist Care (MSC).

The infographic presents the geographical distribution of DHH claimants across municipalities and provinces, as well as their age and gender distribution.

Understanding these distributions is crucial for informing policies, allocating resources, and improving access to education, healthcare, and employment for this often under-recognized population.
