Presentation LEER conference: The labor market entry prospects of people with visual impairments
Visual impairment
Conference presentation given at the 9th LEER International Conference on Education Economics.
The research compares the prospects of different socio-economic outcomes (employment, self-employment, unemployment insurance, illness and disability insurance, social benefits, further education, other no income) 1) after graduation and 2) after first job entrance over time between a subpopulation of people who declared VI sensory disability care and a matched control group.
Outcomes analyzed include employment, self-employment, unemployment insurance, illness and disability insurance, social benefits, further education, and other/no income. Results show that people with visual impairments are underrepresented in (self-)employment, overrepresented in social and disability benefits, and have comparable prospects in further education and unemployment insurance.
